A MAN has appeared before Limerick District Court charged in connection with the alleged discovery of €180,000 worth of heroin in Clarina six years ago.
Barry Hodgins, 32, of Carrig West, Clarina, is charged with one count of simple possession, three counts of possession for sale or supply and one count of possession of over €13,000 worth of a controlled drug on July 7, 2008.
He had made no reply when charged with the five offences following his arrest on April 24, Garda Brian Hanrahan, Newcastle West garda station, told Judge Aeneas McCarthy.
Mr Hodgins was remanded in custody with consent to bail to appear before the court again this Tuesday, April 29.
Conditions of bail sought by the state include that Mr Hodgins surrender his passport and not apply for any new travel documents and that he sign on daily at Henry Street garda station between the hours of 9am and 9pm.
Bail is subject to an independent surety of €20,000 - half of it to be lodged - to be approved by the court.
