THE body of a young woman has been recovered from the river Shannon near Limerick city centre.

THE body of a young woman has been recovered from the river Shannon near Limerick city centre.

The body, which has not yet been identified, was discovered in the water by members of the Limerick Marine and Search and Rescue unit at Brown’s Quay, between Thomond Bridge and Donnellan’s Field.

The body has been taken to University Hospital, Limerick where a post mortem will be conducted later.

A garda spokesperson confirmed the family of 15-year-old Chloe Kinsella, who has been missing since the weekend have been notified of this afternoon’s developments.

Hundreds of people have been taking part in searches for the missing teenager since she was last seen near her home in Kileely last Saturday night.
