A BMW 4X4 seized from criminal Ger Dundon was used to transport his former partner, April Collins, to and from the Special Criminal Court during the trial of his brothers - John and Wayne Dundon - who were last week convicted of making threats against four members of the Collins family on dates in 2010 and 2011.

The Limerick Leader has learned the vehicle, which is worth over €200,000, was used by members of the armed Emergency Response Unit assigned to protect the 24-year-old who gave evidence earlier this month at the non-jury court.

The luxury BMW, which has bullet-proof glass and armoured plating, was seized by the CAB in Limerick in 2008 during Operation Platinum. It was donated to the ERU the following year.

John and Wayne Dundon will be sentenced on April 18, next.
