GARDAI have launched an investigations after a man sustained serious injuries when he was assaulted at a night club in the city centre.

GARDAI have launched an investigations after a man sustained serious injuries when he was assaulted at a night club in the city centre.

The man was struck in the face with a glass bottle at around 1.15am on Sunday.

“The injured party was attending a nightclub on Thomas Street when he was assaulted by another man. The culprit struck the injured party with a glass bottle above his right eye,” said Sgt Brian Broderick.

The victim received a number of stitches over his following the incident and according to gardai, the culprit had a shaved head and was wearing a black t-shirt.

He fled in the direction of Upper William Street and gardaí at Henry street are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
