INVESTIGATIONS are underway after the body of a Limerick murder suspect was found outside a flat in the city centre this morning.

Mary Lynch, 41, was found dead near the front door of her flat at Cecil Street at around 10am by her landlord when he called to the premises.

Ms Lynch had been due to go on trial at the Central Criminal Court later this year for the murder of Paddy Redmond in the early hours of November 10, 2013.

Mr Redmond, 65, died after he was stabbed in the back during a row at the Mount Kenneth Apartments, where he lived.

The separated father of three grown-up daughters was originally from Dublin but had been living in Limerick for a number of years prior to his death.

Ms Lynch, who was on bail, was charged with his murder in January and the book of evidence was served on her in April.

The flat where she lived has been technically examined and a post mortem will be carried out later today at University Hospital Limerick.

While an investigation is underway, it is understood foul play is not suspected.
