GARDAI have made a major drug seizure at a house in county Limerick, with one man arrested.
A planned search of the house at Athlacca, Bruff on Monday afternoon revealed cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to €115,000 - pending analysis.
A male in his early 20s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Bruff Garda Station, said a spokesperson.
The search was part of on-going, intelligence-led operations targeting the cultivation of controlled drugs in the Limerick and Clare area.
“These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks,” said a spokesperson.
“Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality,” added the spokesperson.
