Searches involving Limerick Marine Search and Rescue are continuing on the river this morning
LIMERICK Marine Search and Rescue Service are continuing to search the Shannon River, near Athlunkard Bridge, for the body of a man who went missing at around 4pm on Wednesday afternoon.

LIMERICK Marine Search and Rescue Service are continuing to search the Shannon River, near Athlunkard Bridge, for the body of a man who went missing at around 4pm on Wednesday afternoon.

The clothes of the man, who it is understood fished regularly in the area, were found and immediately a search operation began involving Limerick Fire and Rescue Service’s new FireSwift boat and the Limerick Marine Search and Rescue Service.

“We were diving until 11pm last night and will resume again today at 11am when conditions are safe to do so,” said a spokesman for the Marine Rescue Service.

“We will stay here searching until we find the body, we have had no success so far but we will continue searching until we find him,” he added.
