A COUNTY Clare man who admitted having a sawn-off shotgun at Colbert Station will be sentenced in the New Year.

Emmett Curley, aged 32, of Rinneanna View, Shannon pleaded guilty, at Limerick Circuit Court, to possession of a sawn-off double-barrelled BSA shotgun at Colbert Station on April 4, last.

Curley was arrested in the car park of Colbert Station as he was about to board a bus to County Clare.

His arrest followed an intelligence-led operation by the Divisional Drugs Unit assisted by the armed Regional Support Unit.

Judge Carroll Moran will impose sentence on January 24, next.
