HUNDREDS of elective procedures and outpatients appointments have been cancelled at acute hospitals in the Mid-West as junior doctors strike this Tuesday.

HUNDREDS of elective procedures and outpatients appointments have been cancelled at acute hospitals in the Mid-West as junior doctors strike this Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the UL Hospitals Group said emergency, oncology and dialysis services would continue to be provided as doctors down tools over long working hours.

“The message we wish to give to the public is a simple one,” said a hospital spokesperson. “If your procedure or operation has to be cancelled you will be contacted directly by phone call. If you do not hear from us you should present to the hospital as normal.” All cancelled surgery and appointments will be rescheduled.
