Limerick city councillor Pat Kennedy has resigned from the Fine Gael political party.

Limerick city councillor Pat Kennedy has resigned from the Fine Gael political party.

Cllr Kennedy was already facing expulsion after voting against the party’s mayoral candidate Cllr Denis McCarthy last month.

He was due to face the party’s top brass in Dublin this Thursday. To prevent this, he formally resigned the party whip.

But after being told he was still facing removal from the party, he formally quit.
