A COUPLE from Limerick have claimed the city’s second €1 million win in the Lotto’s Daily Million game.

The married couple, who are retirees and do not wish to be named, travelled to National Lottery offices Dublin yesterday to collect the whopping windfall, after discovering the winning ticket 13 days after it was drawn.

The couple, who bought the €7 Multi Draw Quick Pick ticket in Paper View in the Crescent Shopping Centre on October 3, said it was the first ticket they bought in the new Daily Million game.

“We’re still in a bit of a daze about it all, to tell you the truth,” said the delighted wife. “It was the very first time my husband ever played this game and the amazing thing is that we had the Daily Million ticket, worth €1 million, sitting on our windowsill for 13 days and 13 nights without even checking it!”

The husband said the lucky Lotto winners had “no immediate plans” on how they would spend the money and would “consider what to do”.

“The idea is to invest the money, so that we have time to consider our options and come to terms with this great piece of luck we’ve been given,” he said.

“One thing is for sure: we will definitely be giving a private donation to the Irish Cancer Society who we feel do great work,” he added.

Limerick has had the lion’s share of success in the new Lotto game, which started in September, with two of the three €1 million prizes being won here, while a couple from Askeaton won €500,000 in the Daily Million Plus game.
