THE first civic reception to be held outside Limerick City Hall went ahead this week.

On Tuesday Mayor Jim Long presided over the “historic first for Limerick City Council” with the Southill Family Resource Centre honoured with this reception for their recent success in the All-Island Pride of Place awards.

In 2011 the “Health Matters Naturally” Clinic, which is part of the Southill Family Resource Centre, won the national award in the Pride of Place Community Health Initiative Category.

The project offers a variety of natural and complementary therapies, under the capable hand of Maura O’Connor, which hax proven to be most beneficial to the local community. Therapies include bio-resonance, reiki, colour therapy and smoking cessation. The mayor and Southill FRC agree that it was important to hold the event locally, so those who benefit from the Health Matters Naturally service could come together and join a community celebration to mark their achievement.
