Man hospitalised following industrial accident at County Limerick waste facility.

A 39-year-old man is being treated at the Mid Western Regional hospital following an industrial accident in County Limerick this afternoon.

The man sustained serious leg injuries when he became trapped in machinery while working at the Mr Binman facility near Kilmallock shortly after 2pm and it took over an hour for the emergency services to release him.

In a statement, the company, which is in receivership, said: “The Company is liaising with emergency services and relevant authorities to determine the cause of the incident.”

Although the employee sustained serious injuries, his condition is not believed to be life threatening.

Gardai from Ballyneety, ambulance personnell and three units of the Limerick city fire and rescue service attended the scene of the incident.

The Health and Safety Authority has launched an investigation.
