A YOUNG man who was seriously injured in a road traffic accident near Kildimo during the August Bank Holiday weekend has died.

A YOUNG man who was seriously injured in a road traffic accident near Kildimo during the August Bank Holiday weekend has died.

The 26-year-old man, who has been named locally as Liam O’Shaughnessy from Kildimo, was a rear-seat passenger in a car which left the road at Ballycasey, near Kildimo at around 3am on August 3,last.

Mr O’Shaughnessy sustained severe head injuries and was brought to the specialist unit at Cork University Hospital where he remained on life-support until he passed away at the weekend.

Members of his family has maintained a vigil at his bedside since the accident.

Two other men, including the driver, were treated at University Hospital Limerick for non life-threatening injuries following the accident.

The fatality was the fifth on Limerick roads this year and the third in the Newcastle West district in the last month.
