A LIMERICK man has been granted bail after he appeared in court charged in connection with a drugs and firearms seizure at a house in the city earlier this week.

A LIMERICK man has been granted bail after he appeared in court charged in connection with a drugs and firearms seizure at a house in the city earlier this week.

Alan McGrath, 37, of Colbert Avenue, Janesboro is accused of possession of a Beretta pistol in suspicious circumstances at his home on August 31, last.

He is also accused of possession of quantities of cannabis, for the purpose of sale or supply, at his home and at Roxboro Road on the same date.

The defendant, who the court heard is unemployed, was granted free legal aid and gardai did not oppose a bail application which was made on his behalf by solicitor Darach McCarthy.

He must live at his own home address in Janesboro, obey a nightly curfew and sign-on at his local garda station on a daily basis pending his next court appearance.

The case was adjourned until December 2, next when directions are expected to be available from the DPP.
