A BROTHEL in a county Limerick village which locals claim was frequented by dozens of men has ceased operation.

In last week’s edition of the Limerick Leader, locals in the Croom area expressed their shock after it emerged that a house in a family-friendly area of the village was operating as a brothel.

While locals and the authorities remained tight-lipped about developments this week, it is understood that the illegal operation which had been ongoing for the last month, has shut down after being visited by authorities.

“I know that a load of fellas have gone away to be tested,” said one local this week.

“It has well and truly closed and there has been no sign of the woman,” he added. Another local revealed how the house in question has been boarded up.

It is understood that the operation was being run by a non-national who moved into the area in recent weeks.
