INVESTIGATIONS are underway after a number of windows at Cappamore garda station were smashed in the early hours of this morning.

INVESTIGATIONS are underway after a number of windows at Cappamore garda station were smashed in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai responded to a disturbance in Cappamore village at around 4am after a row involving a number of youths broke out. A 17-year-old male, believed to be from the locality, was arrested for public order offences.

He was questioned by gardai and a file is being prepared for a juvenile liaison officer.

When morning broke gardai discovered that the windows of Cappamore Garda Station, located on Main Street, had been broken overnight.

It is understood that a stone was used to break one and possibly a fist as well.

An investigation has commenced into the criminal damage.

“We are examining CCTV footage and are appealing to the public who may have witnessed the incident or have any information to contact us in strict confidentiality at Cappamore or Bruff Garda Stations on 061 381202/ 061 382940,” said a garda spokesperson.

The windows were replaced earlier today.
