Search and rescue teams recovered the body of a woman from the Shannon Estuary this Saturday afternoon.

The body was found in the vicinity of Kilrush and has been taken to University Hospital Limerick in Dooradoyle for a post mortem and formal identification.

The discovery was made by search and rescue units involved in week-long search for missing Pallaskenry woman Rosie Moloney.

Ms Moloney, 24, has been missing since last Saturday when her car was discovered near Ringmoylan Pier near Pallaskenry.

In a statement issued this Saturday evening, Gardai confirmed that the body of Ms Moloney had been found and thanked the public for their assistance in the search.
