Festive feeling to Limerick minor hurling final
JUST four days before Christmas the final of Limerick’s Premier Minor Hurling Championship takes place this Sunday (2.00) in the Gaelic Grounds.
Two weeks ago Na Piarsaigh and Ahane played out a thrilling draw to ensure Sunday’s second encounter was necessary.
Since the drawn encounter Ahane star Tom Morrissey was honoured as Munster minor hurler of the year for his performances as Limerick defended their provincial crown.
Remarkably Morrissey will be in opposition with 2013 Munster minor hurler of the year, Ronan Lynch, in Sunday’s county final.
Morrissey and his Ahane colleagues are bidding to win a first minor crown for the famed club since 1991.
Also key to the Castleconnell men will be Morrissey’s twin brother Paddy, Evan Enright, Ciaran O’Mara, Colum Carroll and O’Halloran brothers Paul and Mark.
Na Piarsaigh were beaten in last year’s minor final and are bidding to regain a crown they won in 2011.
As well as Ronan Lynch, the Caherdavin side have influential players in Thomas Grimes, Peter Casey, Conor Houlihan and Peader Collins.
