Monaleen back to winning ways in Limerick SFC
Monaleen got their first win of the Limerick SFC on Wednesday night when they were 0-15 to 2-4 winners over Pallasgreen.
Having lost to Drom-Broadford and Ballylanders in their opening two games, Monaleen needed to win to stay in contention for a place in the knockout stages. But the result was never in doubt here. Ger Collins helped himself to eight points (five frees) and they were 0-10 to 1-0 up at the break, Pallasgreen’s goal coming from Ryan Deere.
Monaleen moved ten points clear in the second half with Pallasgreen’s second goal - a Seamus Mulcahy penalty - only serving as consolation late on.
The two teams are back in action at the weekend in Round 4 of the championship. Monaleen take on St Patrick’s in Claughaun on Saturday while Pallasgreen play Ballylanders in Bruff on Sunday. There are also four other games on Saturday - Galbally play Fr Casey’s in Kilmallock; Newcastle West face St Kieran’s in the Bog Garden in Rathkeale; Ballysteen meet Adare in Mick Neville Park and St Mary’s-Sean Finns take on Drom-Broadford in Feenagh.
All those games are at 6.30pm.
SCORERS - Monaleen: Ger Collins 0-8 (five frees), Peter Russell, Mike Crowley, Mark McCarthy, Paul Kinnerk, Jack Hoare, Pádraig Quinn, Shane Leonard 0-1 each; Pallasgreen: Ryan Deere 1-1 (0-1 free), Séamus Mulcahy 1-0 (penalty), Chris McMahon 0-2 (both frees), Colin Ryan 0-1
