April 20 - TDs should stand up and be counted on abortion

The world has seen many types of injustices and the most ugly scenes of death been perpetrated against mankind, for reasons of race, skin colour, religion, gender, political affiliation.

The world has seen many types of injustices and the most ugly scenes of death been perpetrated against mankind, for reasons of race, skin colour, religion, gender, political affiliation.

All societies and civilisations should have as their goal that the rights of all mankind, male and female should be protected equally under the law and that all such atrocities against the person should be a thing of the past and not repeated.

Abortion is like war: it is easy to make decisions when others have to pay the price, all because they have no voice and cannot defend themselves. Ireland remains one of the few remaining countries that has an opportunity that might inspire others to pause for thought to protect the most primary aspect of human dignity and future mankind, life itself. For us, that fate lies in the hands of Enda Kenny and Alan Shatter and their fellow comrades in government. We all know that when a law is passed it can become attitude- and mind-changing and considered acceptable over time as been normal and sadly that will happen if the abortion flood gates are opened in Ireland.

The time is upon us, for all of them to stand up and be counted besides hiding under each other’s coat tails. Whatever is morally wrong can never be politically correct.

The main government party TDs in particular should now honour their pre-election pro-life pledge. Millions yet to be born will thank them for it.
