Stand off in Limerick street as man barricades himself into flat

A stand off is taking place in John Street this Friday afternoon after a man barricaded himself into an appartment he is facing eviction from.

A stand off is taking place in John Street this Friday afternoon after a man barricaded himself into an appartment he is facing eviction from.

A STAND-off is taking place in the city centre after a man barricaded himself into an apartment in John Street.

This afternoon, the gardai attempted to evict the man from his flat. But after an argument ensued, he barricaded himself into the building.

It is not known if there are other people in the flat with him.

There is a major garda presence at the scene, with members of the armed regional support unit, and detectives present. The ambulance service have also been called in.

The street is currently cordoned off with traffic diversions in place.
