Shots fired at Limerick house twice in a week

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after a house in Moyross was targeted by a gunman for the second time in a week.

A number of shots were fired at a downstairs window of the house in Delmege Park at around 8pm on Wednesday night.

It is understood a number of people were in the house at the time but nobody was injured.

Around the same time, a single shot was fired through the window of a neighbouring house which again was occupied.

Gardai suspect a lone gunman, who fled the area on foot, was responsible for both incidents.

Investigating gardai have linked the shootings to an gang of young men who are attempting to take control of the illegal drugs trade on the northside of the city.

It is understood that gardai have put a specific strategy in place with intensive patrolling in an effort to prevent further serious incidents in the area.

Anyone with information about either this week’s shooting incidents or last week’s shooting is asked to contact gardai at Mayorstone Park or Henry Street.
