The Munster Council have announced that Pat Fitzgerald, Doon, is on administrative leave from his role as CEO

AT A Munster Council meeting last night in Limerick city, Sean Walsh, chairman, informed the delegates that Pat Fitzgerald, CEO, is on administrative leave.

“It is effective from January 2 until his contract expires on March 31. Thereafter, he will not be looking to extend his contract with Comhairle na Mumhan,” said Mr Walsh.

He told officials and delegates at their first meeting of the year that Mr Fitzgerald, a native of Doon, had relinquished his post on Wednesday afternoon.

The Munster Council subsequently approved a recommendation that Simon Moroney will assume the position of acting CEO from Monday, January 7 until Monday, September 30.

Mr Fitzgerald succeeded Mr Moroney when he was announced as the GAA’s new full-time secretary/CEO of the Munster Council in 2008.

Mr Fitzgerald is a former Limerick county board chairman and was also the county’s GAA development officer.
