Seized money is donated to Limerick Animal Welfare
LIMERICK Animal Welfare received a pre-Christmas bonus after a judge directed that €102.71 which was seized from bogus charity collectors in the city be donated to the charity.
Insp Seamus Nolan, Henry Street, told Limerick Court the money was seized by gardai on O’Connell Street on October 15, 2010.
He said the culprits, who were not prosecuted as they were acting under the instructions of another party, were purporting to be collecting for the PAWS charity, which operates in County Tipperary.
Judge Eugene O’Kelly granted a Police Property Application allowing gardai to dispose of the money and he directed that it be given to Limerick Animal Welfare.
