Relief as missing Limerick man found ‘safe and sound’
Ralph Ryan, found alive and well in Galway this Monday
THERE was relief for a Limerick family this Monday with the news that missing local man Ralph Ryan was found alive and well.
Mr Ryan, 32, from Ballinacurra, had sparked fears for his safety over the weekend after he was reported missing, last being seen on Thursday in the Sea Road area of Galway.
The Limerick native and former Crescent College Comprehensive student is a mature student at GMIT in Galway and has been living in the Westside area of the city for over 18 months.
He was reported missing and a search campaign was launched after family and friends had failed to hear from him in several days.
After an extensive search involving gardai in Galway, the Valentia Coast Guard and RNLI Lifeboat, Mr Ryan was discovered safe and well this Monday.
Mr Ryan’s friends had also conducted a massive social media campaign to find him.
A spokesperson for Mill Street Gardai in Galway said late this Monday evening that Mr Ryan had been located.
“He has been located in the last hour safe and sound and is in the process of reuniting with his family,” he said.
Mr Ryan’s elderly father is unwell and requires regular care, while his mother Maureen, a sister of well-known city businessman Don Reddan, passed away suddenly while on holiday in Alicante in July.
Hundreds of Mr Ryan’s friends took to Facebook and Twitter to report him missing, with one tweet receiving over 100,000 retweets from concerned friends and followers of the Trace Missing Persons Ireland website.
An outpouring of relief greeted news of his discovery this Monday among both friends and family.
