A RECEIVER has been appointed to the Charleville Park Hotel which employs over 110 staff.

Kieran Wallace of KPMG has been appointed as the receiver by Bank of Scotland.

Mr Wallace has also been appointed receiver to two other Cork hotels The Ambassador Hotel on Military Hill and the Oriel House in Ballincollig which were also under the control of Cork Luxury Hotel Group which was established by property developer William Savage.

When contacted this week, the manager of the Charleville Park Hotel, Brendan Comerford, said it was “business as usual” at the four-star hotel.

He said there will be no interruption to trade and all customer bookings and deposits will be honoured.

“It’s business as usual. There are 110 employees working in the hotel. All deposits for weddings or any future business have all been guaranteed by the new operating company which is BDL hotels an Irish operation which have their parent company in the UK. All brides and grooms have been contacted directly by the hotel and it has been explained to them as well,” said Mr Comerford.

“The same management team and staff have been left in place to continue to run the hotels,” he added.

Kieran Wallace, the appointed receiver, declined to comment on the finances of the hotel this week and reiterated that it is “very much business as usual” at the hotel which is situated on the N20 Limerick to Cork road outside Charleville.

The hotel opened amid much fanfare in 2008 on the site of the former Deerpark Hotel.

The hotel has 96 bedrooms and facilities include a 25 metre swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, jacuzzi, a fully equipped gym and a nightclub.
