Man charged with slash hook attack in County Limerick bar
A man appeared in Newcastle West court charged with possession of a slash hook in a Kilmallock bar over Christmas
A MAN has appeared in court charged with possession of a slash hook in a Kilmallock bar over the Christmas holidays.
Arthur Conway, aged 36, of Deebert, Kilmallock was before Newcastle West Court charged with two counts of criminal damage and one count of possession of an article, namely a slash hook, with intent to cause criminal damage at Daffy’s Bar, Wolfe Tone Street, Kilmallock on December 28 last.
Giving evidence of arrest, charge and caution, Garda Robert Young of Kilmallock garda station told Newcastle West Court that Conway was arrested at his home at approximately 7.25am on the morning of the court.
The court heard that Conway made no reply to the charges and that a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the matter.
Judge Mary Larkin granted Conway bail subject to a number of conditions.
The defendant was ordered to sign on at Bruff garda station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 9am and 9pm.
He was also ordered to stay away from Daffy’s Bar and business premises at Wolfe Tone Street, Kilmallock and he must also stay sober as a condition of his bail.
Judge Mary Larkin adjourned the case to Kilmallock Court on February 1, next when the matter is in for mention.
