A MALLOW Street company which helps businesses reduce overheads has won the City’s top Enterprise Award for the second time.

Business Cost Management (BCM) Limited, headed by John MacNamara won the overall Entrepreneur of the Year at the Limerick City Enterprise Awards, held this Monday in the Savoy Hotel.

BCM has grown from one office employing six people to 30 bases in some 16 countries, with close to 100 people employed.

In Ireland, it has offices in Limerick, Cork, Dublin and Galway.

Speaking after picking up the prize, Mr MacNamara said: “We are delighted to win this award here today, we have been a client of Limerick City Enterprise Board for many years and have availed of its training, mentoring and business advice during those years which has assisted our growth tremendously.”

There were also awards for Ballysimon Road firm Sallymills Bakery Ltd (Best Manufacturing Business), LIT-based software firm SonarSim Ltd (Innovation Award), Mungret Street consultancy firm Almir Business (Best Internationally Trading Business), while the Frank McCourt Museum in Hartstonge Street, which won the Best New Tourism Business.

BCM will now go forward to be interviewed by a penal of experts to assess their potential to win a national enterprise award.

Should they make the cut, BCM will compete for the National Enterprise Award at Dublin’s Custom House in November.

BCM first won the Limerick City Entrepreneur of the Year award back in 2009.
