JP McManus’s joy at granddaughter’s arrival

LIMERICK racehorse owner JP McManus has become a grandfather again – his son John has welcomed his first child, a baby girl.

Mr McManus already has three granddaughters, Vivienne and Katie – daughters of his son Kieran and his wife Anne-Marie – and Cara, the only child of his daughter Sue Ann.

The new baby girl is understood to have been named Millie by her proud parents John and Emma.

A Trinity College graduate, Emma (nee Ledbetter) met John while she was a student of St Michael’s Primary School on Pery Square in the city. John was a student at Glenstal Abbey in Murroe at the time, and, according to friends, they mixed in the same circles. However, it’s believed that their relationship became formal when the pair were in their 20s.

They married in a low-key ceremony in Portugal in 2010.

John McManus was the last of JP and Noreen McManus’ three children to wed.

Daughter, Sue Ann, married Cian Foley from Killorglin in Martinstown Church in July 2007. In June 2006, son, Kieran, wed Anne-Marie Leavy at her local church at Ballivor, County Meath before treating guests to a lavish reception at Carton House Hotel near Maynooth. John was a groomsman at the wedding of family friend Brett Desmond and Andrea Corr in Clare in 2009.
