Heartbroken tourist’s blind and deaf dog is stolen by cruel thieves
A DISTRAUGHT English tourist is trying to track down his beloved 15 year-old pet dog stolen on his first trip to County Limerick.
Michael O’Reilly, from London, contacted the Limerick Leader to see if the public could help find his Border Terrier, who he has never been apart from.
Mr O’Reilly’s Land Rover jeep was one of three vehicles broken in to at Cahercorney on the Herbertstown to Ballyneety road on Saturday afternoon.
Mobile phones, clothes and loose change were stolen from the other cars but the only thing taken from Mr O’Reilly’s car was his beloved dog Willow.
“They smashed the window behind the driver’s seat and the impact must have caused Willow to wake up. They must have seen her, left the clothes on the backseat, smashed the rear window and took the dog.
“She is a 15 year-old light brown but mostly grey Border Terrier with two lumps on her belly. She is partly deaf and blind and can’t walk that far. She is of no monetary value for breeding or working,” said Mr O’Reilly.
While Willow isn’t worth any money she is priceless to Mr O’Reilly, who has offered a reward of €500 for the safe return of Willow “no questions asked”.
A spokesperson for Bruff Gardai said the theft happened at Cahercorney, Herbertstown between 1.30 and 4pm on Saturday and they appealed for witnesses or anybody who has any information on the thefts to contact them at 061 382940.
