THE funeral will take place this Tuesday of the 44-year-old father-of-three who died tragically on Lough Derg last week in a boating accident.
Pat Danaher, a painting contractor who lived at Nancy’s Well, Ogonolloe, Co Clare but was originally from Ballinacurra Gardens, died after his 20-foot speedboat ran aground on rocks and capsized last Thursday.
The alarm was raised around 9.30pm last Thursday night when the boat was spotted upturned and a multi-agency search was mounted. The search involved Mountshannon Search and Rescue, Civil Defence, Coast Guard, RNLI and the search and rescue helicopter.
Mr Danaher’s body was located near the upturned boat close to Youghal Bay, near Garrykennedy. The boat had damage to its propellors and hull and was thought to have been last seen in the Dromineer area on the previous Wednesday afternoon.
The body was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital where a post-mortem was carried out.
Mr Danaher was due to repose at this residence in Ogonolloe this Monday afternoon before a private removal on Tuesday for Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Old Church, Ogonolloe at 11am, followed by private cremation.
