County Limerick pensioners thought they were going to be murdered

THE 74 year-old man who along with his two sisters was viciously assaulted in their Pallasgreen home says they were in fear of their lives.
Two assailants wearing ski-masks and armed with a sword and knives tied up Willie Creed and his sisters, Nora, 72, and Chrissie, 66, after beating them last week. Willie said they thought they were going to be “murdered”.
“The very minute I opened the bedroom door at around 10pm they were right on top of me and knocked me to the floor. They had two butchers’ knifes with a steel blade 12 inches long. They had two pointed sticks about a foot long, they gave me a belt down on the head with them,” said Willie as he relived the terrifying events.
“They belted Nora and Chrissie with a small stool straight down on the head. Nora got a belt at the back of the neck. We were panned out,” said Willie, who suffers from a heart condition.
All three pensioners were then tied up with cords and locked in to a bedroom and if Willie hadn’t managed to get free he says they would have bled to death. “I opened the belt buckle, got my hand out and I had pair of sidecutters. I cut the rest of the belts. Eventually I opened the door with a screwdriver. I pulled the locking pin and lucky it opened. Only for that we would have bled to death. The had us locked in. You would bleed to death during the night,” said Willie.
Willie is now back in the family home after being hospitalised for his injuries. “The house was completely wrecked. You couldn’t believe it and all the blood on the floor and up on the press. Nora had a pair of rubber boots and blood was splattered up the sides of the boots,” said Willie, who is going to “keep going”.
“I never gave in, no bloody way,” he said, although the thought of them returning remains.
“It would be in your mind all night. You couldn’t lie down and sleep only close your eyes and read a book to break the monotony but you couldn’t concentrate. Last night I woke up twice, I got up at 3.15 and I stayed up,” said Willie, who was speaking to Limerick’s Live 95FM.
