GARDAI have confirmed that the body of missing Doon man, PJ Richardson, has been found.

Bruff Superintendent Alan Cunningham said searches were carried out early this morning.

“A male believed to be that of the Mr Richardson was found. Gardai are at the scene, the body will be removed to the Regional for a post mortem,” said Supt Cunningham.

While gardai await the results of the post mortem they say they are not treating Mr Richardson’s death as suspicious.

It is believed that Mr Richardson was found in an open area near his home in Lacka, Doon and his death may have been a tragic accident.

Bruff gardai issued an appeal for the public’s assistance in finding 49-year-old Mr Richardson yesterday.

Many answered their call yesterday evening and a search party meeting convened at 9.30am at Doon Community Centre this Thursday morning.

The man from the well know and highly respected Richardson family was reported missing at noon on Wednesday.

He failed to return home after shopping locally on Tuesday. He was last seen on the Monastery Road, about a mile outside Doon around 9pm.
