SHANNON ROSE: Congratulations to Mikaela Teeling-Lynch on being crowned the Shannon Rose at Wolfe Tones GAA Clubhouse on Saturday night.

CHAMBER: The Shannon Chamber Golf Classic takes place next Thursday June 20th at Shannon Golf Club.

COUNSELLING: A low cost confidential Counselling service is available every Wednesday, at 10.00am, at the Shannon Family Resource Centre, Respond Community Building, Rineanna View.

THANK YOU: The parish thank the children who received Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation for their great generosity to the children of Chivhu, Zimbabwe. They gave €4,500 of gift money they received to help the children of Chivhu to improve their quality of life and living. On Friday next at the opening of the Apostolic Workers Display in Ennis, Bro. Stephen O’Kane ofm, a Missionary who worked in Chivhu, will receive the cheque on behalf of the children.

ST CONAIRE’S: Well done to St Conaire’s N.S. who won a computer technology prize worth over €20,000 in the Intel eSchools competition.

The eSchools prize is a technology package worth more than €20,000 which includes 30 individual HP Elitepad tablet devices and a dedicated teacher laptop along with a portable storage / charging trolley to house the devices.

The competition was this year open to the 70 schools nationwide who took part in the Intel Mini Scientist science competition.

LEGAL CLINIC: The next free legal advice clinic will be held on Monday June 24 at the community Office, Unit 1, Business Centre, from 5.15 to 5.45pm. Callers are asked to attend at 5.15pm to ensure being seen by a solicitor. No appointment is necessary.

OVER 55s: It’s time you got online! Clare Local Development Company will shortly be offering beginner’s computer courses in internet/skype etc to over 55’s in Shannon. If interested, ring 065 6866800 and leave your name and number.

CLARECARE: The Clarecare annual church gate collection will take place this weekend, 15 and 16 June. Clarecare need help now more than ever – people are asked to be as generous as they can. If it is more convenient a contribution can be dropped into the Clarecare community Office at any time. The centre thanks residents for their continued support for the work of Clarecare in Shannon and throughout the county. Collection envelopes were delivered to homes in Shannon with the diary.

CHARITY SHOP: SCAR (2nd Chance Animal Rescue) Delginis, Drumgeely is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 4pm. Quality clothing, shoes, books etc. all items welcome. Volunteers needed, check the Facebook page scarchaaarityshop.shannon.

APOSTOLIC WORKERS: TThe Diocesan Display of the Apostolic Workers will take place in The Scout Hall, Ennis, on Friday and Saturday next. Bishop Kieran will officially open the Display at 3pm on Friday. Shannon woman Mai Farrell is currently the Diocesan President.

CONFIRMATION 2014: Bishop Kieran will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation in Shannon in 2014 on Friday 23 May at 4pm in SS John & Paul Church for St. Aidan’s School. On Saturday 24 May at 10.30am for St. Conaire’s School and at 2.30pm in Mary Immaculate Church for St. Senan’s, St. Tola’s and Gael Scoil Donncha Rua.

AIRPORT: Shannon people wish Neil Pakey, new CEO of Shannon Airport all the best in his role. Everyone is hopeful that new business will be brought to the Airport and in turn create jobs for the local community.

LOURDES: The Diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage will leave Shannon on June 26 returning on to July 1.

The cost is €670 per person sharing. The pilgrimage will be led by Bishop Kieran O’Reilly SMA, Bishop of Killaloe. Booking forms in the Sacristy or Parish Office.

KNOCK: The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine this year will take place on Sunday 7July. For travel details, ring PK Travel at 471111.

MEETING: The Shannon Bereavement Committee Meeting will take place at The Health Centre on Monday June 17 at 7.30pm.

PRIMARY GRAD: On Tuesday 25June Graduation Masses will be held for two of the primary schools, in the morning for St. Senan’s School and in the afternoon for St. Conaire’s School.

RECENT DEATHS: Sympathy to James O’Brien, Bru Ard Chaoin, Ballycasey, on the death of his sister Brid Fenton, Adee, Co. Louth. To Fr. J. Minogue, former Parish Priest here in Shannon, on the death of his sister Maura Angelo, Ranelagh, Co. Dublin who died last Tuesday.
