Alleged sex assault on 17-year-old girl at disco in Limerick

Gardai are investigating the incident

GARDAI are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl during what was billed as “Munster’s biggest disco for third year and transition year students”.

A garda spokesman confirmed to the Limerick Leader this Wednesday that they have spoken with the teenager following the alleged incident which is said to have taken place at Limerick Racecourse on Friday night.

“No arrests have been made. We have spoken to the girl. The incident is alleged to have occured in the premises of the racecourse on Friday night. The disco took place between 9pm and midnight and there would have been up to 1,500 young people in attendance,” he added.

A poster publicising the Sinbin Teen Events disco describes it as “Munster’s biggest third year and transition year disco” which includes “three floors and six massive parties”.

It also states that there is “strictly no alcohol”, the disco is for third year and transition year students only and has safe pick up and drop off points.

Gardai at Roxboro are continuing their investigation and can be contacted at 061 214340.
