THERE are still over 120 days to Christmas, but there’s no time like the present to get into the festive cheer at Brown Thomas.
While many are still enjoying the last days of summer – albeit an Irish summer – the shelves are already stacked to capacity at Brown Thomas in Limerick.
Liam Dwan, manger of the Limerick branch, said their Christmas shop opened on Wednesday last and is already attracting “great interest and excitement particularly from our younger visitors.”
Mr Dwan said special pieces were put on some items and these have already been snapped up.
“Many customers are happy to get an opportunity to add to their Christmas collection, week by week, rather than do it all together later,” he said.
This year’s ‘themes’ are Venetian Chic, Winter Palace, Yule Tide and the Nutcracker Suite.
Their Christmas markets were also unveiled in Dublin and Cork at the same time, showcasing wonderful festive offerings of Christmas trees, exquisite decorations and gift ideas in a special curation of themes.
While now is neither the time to pull out the barbeque or put a turkey in the oven, Brown Thomas managing director Stephen Sealey said it opens months in advance “every year due to customer demand.
“We find there is a positive response from shoppers, with trees and some decorations selling out as early as October. In August last year, 3,000 units of Christmas decorations sold within the first three days of opening the Christmas Market. Our customers know to expect the launch of the Christmas Market in August each year,” said Mr Sealey.
Their Christmas ‘market’ features trees, wreaths, garlands, centrepieces and luxury crackers. “We take pride in sourcing the finest decorations and festive adornments for the home including musical carousels and Christmas scenes which can be passed down through generations of family.”
