The late Liam O'Shaughnessy
A CHARITY table quiz will take place next Friday in Kilcornan, in memory of “fun-loving” Liam O’Shaughnessy who died last year, following a car crash in Kildimo.
Kildimo native, Liam, aged 26, was a rear-seat passenger during an early morning road traffic accident on August bank holiday weekend last year. The popular local man suffered severe head injuries and was brought to a specialist unit at Cork University Hospital, where he remained on life support until he passed away.
Liam’s family will host a charity fundraiser table quiz at Kilcornan House, on Friday, August 5, at 7.30pm, with all proceeds going to Bru Columbanus charity services, in Cork.
While Liam was in Cork, the family availed of Bru Columbanus services, a charity that provides “home from home accommodation” for relatives of seriously ill patients in any Cork hospitals and hospice.
Brother Noel O’Shaughnessy said that during difficult times it is a “brilliant” service. He added that Liam was a “fun-loving, generous and enjoyed life. We hope that this event will somehow reflect the type of person he was”.
“My family spent a week in Cork University Hospital by Liam's bedside at that time. Bru Columbanus provided accommodation for all of us to stay with him during his last few days. As a family, we are grateful to the organisation and would like to give something back to them. We hope that our fundraising may help another family who will need their support. As a family we would like to thank in advance, anyone who attends or supports the cause,” he said.
A team of four on the night is €40. There will be sponsored prizes, finger food, and live music by The Mad Macs on the night. To book your table, contact James at 087-9066095.
