Fr Tony Riordan has welcomed the funding announcement

“This is great news for the young people of Moyross. For safety reasons we had to take a decision to stop using most of the building. Now it looks like young people will get the kind of building they deserve and where they can engage in a range of positive and developmental activities,” said Fr O Riordan who is chairman of the Moyross Development Company that manages the youth facilities.

Work is expected to begin in a matter of weeks on a new indoor sports hall, education and counselling spaces as well as other recreational activities that will “steer people in the right path.”

“I want to pay tribute to the board of the Moyross Development Company who have given lots of voluntary hours over the past 12 months to develop and drive this proposal and to the public representatives who supported us as well as the official in the Department of Justice who have been very helpful in poroposing this much needed project for consideration.

The premises houses a number of projects including Ceim ar Cheim that offers second chance education for young people.
