New head of communications for Limerick appointed

Laura Ryan has been appointed as Limerick City and County Council's Head of Communications/Marketing.

LIMERICK City and County Council has announced that Laura Ryan – its former communications officer – has been appointed as its new Head of Communications/Marketing.

Ms Ryan will be responsible for developing and implementing a communications and marketing strategy for Limerick and leading a team dedicated to putting Limerick’s reputation, achievements and long term future at its heart.

She will be responsible for corporate communications and developing and promoting the Limerick brand to visitors, ranging from tourists to international investors, through dynamic ongoing campaigns across traditional and new media.

“This is a key role which will bring together the Council and its strategic partners to ensure that there is a co-ordinated approach to developing a positive brand that is clearly identifiable and connected with Limerick,” said the council’s chief executive, Conn Murray.

The office of Communications and Marketing will become a new Business Unit of the council under the direction of Dr Pat Daly and replace the former Limerick Marketing Company. Ms Ryan previously managed the Limerick Communications Office. She has also worked as a journalist in both local and national media and was legal correspondent for TV3 News.
