MENS: There was great excitement in the Club on Sunday Dec 9th with the arrival of Santa Claus,all the boys and Girls had a great time and tks to Santa for taking the time to call into the club at such a busy time for him.

LADIES: Our November Hamper winners were: 1st, Margo O’Doherty, 28pts. 2nd, (on countback) Jane Cowhey, 26pts. 3rd, Paula Carroll, 26pts.

The final of our Hamper competitions will be held next Sunday, December 16th.

Also, next Sunday is the 3rd round of our Winter League. Draw at the earlier time of 12.20pm.

All Hampers, outstanding prizes and Golfer of The Year will be presented on Sunday.

GENTS: The winners of this week’s Hamper competition was Damian Cullen and Joe McDonald with 40Pts (including an eagle from Damian on the par 4 5th) from Tom Russell and Neil O’Malley with 38Pts. This week is the final opportunity for members to win a Hamper in 2012 and the competition is open from Monday to Saturday to give members ample opportunity to enter.

Members are reminded that our annual Club Classic which was deferred from October is taking place on Sunday December 16th and as ever, entry is free to all ‘Full’ members. Timesheet is now open so please contact the Pro Shop before Thursday to get your name entered, draw will take place on Fri 14th with teams posted on the website and Pro Shop on Sat. Presentation of prizes will take place in the BallyK bar at 4.30 along with winners in the Sept and Oct Medals, Single and Fourball Matchplays, Hampers and the Golfer of the Year competition.

Fixtures for this week include our Senior Open Singles on Monday and our Open Singles on Wednesday. All bookings to be made on 062 – 32117.

Due to course closures the first round of the Ladies Winter League has been extended to Saturday Dec 15th. Second round runs from Sunday Dec 16th until Jan 5th (inclusive).

MENS: All was quiet on the western front, in golfing terms, last week, when mother nature again showed us her cool side, which prevented play for most of the week. However, the Saturday 3 Ball (Team of 4) went ahead, as did the Sunday Fourball. The Sunday Fourball over 14 holes , was won by Trevor Lovell and Derry Heraty with 32pts.

The Captain’s (Mr. Ger Maher & Mrs. Anne O’Friel) Drive-in will take place on Sunday 23rd. December, with the drive in at 12.00 noon, followed by the Mixed Foursomes (Gunshot start) at 1.00pm.

The entry fee at €30 per couple, will include a mulled wine reception, golf, and main course meal, followed by the prize presentation, the Christmas Draw and music. The timesheet for the Captain’s Drive- in is in the main hallway.

Men’s Club: Pro-Am Qualifier 9th December 2012

Shannon side golfers are proving to be a tough bunch as the winners, John A Culhane, Dave Madigan and Tom O’ Connor produced a great score of 54 points to take 1st prize – Entry to the 2013 STL sponsored Pro-Am.

During qualifying competitions, a separate singles competition will be held for all golfers that have already qualified for the 2013 Pro-Am.

Weekly 9 Hole Xmas Turkey

The Annual weekly 9-hole Turkey competition is now up and running.

The 9 holes in play may change from week to week depending on weather conditions.

Entry fee is €3. Enter as often as you like Congratulations also to this weeks 9 Hole Turkey winner Sean Herlihy with a great score of 22 pts.

Prize giving: A presentation of prizes will take place immediately after the completion of this Sunday’s competition.
