Gary Kirwin and Kayleigh Yeoman to line up for Great Limerick Run

TWO WEIGHT loss champions in Limerick who have inspired others to shed pounds have lined up to take part in the Great Limerick Run this May.
Kayleigh Yeoman, one of the leaders on the RTE show Operation Transformation, and Gary Kirwan, who lost 11 stone last year, will both be pounding the pavements for the third annual event in four months’ time.
Ms Yeoman is gearing up to jog the six mile event, while Mr Kirwan is preparing to lead the ‘walkers’ marathon’ - a new addition for people who want to enter the marathon but do it in a longer time.
Mr Kirwan, who weighs 28 stone, ran the Dublin marathon last year in just under 11 hours and plans to lose another 12 stone this year. He has also set himself an ambitious goal of running an ultra-marathon in the Sahara desert in 2013. Meanwhile, Ms Yeoman, 18, has lost over a stone since appearing on the RTE programme three weeks ago.
John Cleary, organiser of the Great Limerick Run, said they are “two fantastic role models to everyone who wouldn’t see themselves as traditional sports people. There really is a place for everyone in the Great Limerick Run, and we’re lucky to have these two very positive people on board with us.”
Up to 8,000 people are expected to take part in the three events under the Great Limerick Run on Sunday, May 6, which encompasses a marathon, half marathon and six mile race.
