STUDENTS from over 30 countries celebrated the diverse cultures of people in Limerick city at the Adult Education Service’s intercultural day.

STUDENTS from over 30 countries celebrated the diverse cultures of people in Limerick city at the Adult Education Service’s intercultural day.

The day in Pery’s Hotel served to highlight the diversity and culture of all the different nationalities that participate on vocational training opportunities scheme (VTOS) courses.

The day opened with flag ceremony celebrating the origins of all the students, with culinary talents from Europe, Africa and Asia.

“The goal of the intercultural day is to create a place where everyone can appreciate the different aspects of the cultures in VTOS.

“It is a great opportunity to learn about the cultures of the world, many of which are represented in Limerick city, and we’ll have lots of fun at the same time,” said event organiser Michelle Benson.

VTOS allows social welfare recipients to keep payments while attending education courses and gain certificates in state exams (Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate) as well as a variety of QQI awards. See
