Limerick pianist Clíodna Shanahan achieves a notable milestone this Saturday when she joins the London Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Andrey Boreyko to perform the world premiere of Górecki’s Symphony No. 4 (Tansman Episodes) at the Royal Festival Hall.
The premiere, a major event that the music world has been anticipating for some 40 years, will see Clíodna perform the extensive piano part in the symphony for orchestra with obbligato organ and piano.
Clíodna has been working with all the major orchestras in the UK since completing her Future First’s programme of piano orchestral playing with the London Philharmonic orchestra in recent years.
The work will be recorded for CD and DVD release.
