Vistakon Ireland, which recently announced major expansion plans in Limerick, has unveiled a new partnership with the Salesian Secondary School.

As part of the newly established link, senior cycle students will take part in the Skills @ Work programme.

Employees will work with students on CV writing and interview skills and will give them an insight into the array of jobs available to students.

This partnership between Vistakon and Salesians has been facilitated by the Schools’ Business Partnership (SBP) and is an initiative of Business in the Community Ireland (BITC Ireland).

Vistakon Ireland previously ran a similar initiative at St Enda’s Community School.

“We are delighted to be establishing this new link with Vistakon Ireland. The Skills @ Work programme will help our students to identify the connection between education and the future opportunities that may be available,” said Sister Bridget O’Connell, principal of Salesian Secondary School.

“Vistakon Ireland is delighted to be partnering with Salesian Secondary School to support the students in their final years. Our employees have been eager to volunteer for the programme as they see it as a tangible way to give back something to the local community and local school,” said Barry O’Sullivan, manager of Vistakon’s manufacturing facility in Plassey.

Dr Eleanor Walsh, regional coordinator of BITC Ireland has welcomed the establishment of the new partnership between Vistakon and Salesian Secondary School.

“Links between local businesses and schools can have far reaching benefits for both sides of the link and we look forward to assisting Vistakon Ireland and Salesian Secondary School to develop and grow this partnership over the coming years,” she said.
