ALMOST 2,500 students from across Limerick have begun sitting this year’s Leaving Certificate Examinations, which continue until June 22, next.

The exams began on Wednesday morning as students from across Limerick city and county sat English Paper 1.

According to the State Examinations Commission, a total of 2,493 students are sitting the Leaving Certificate in Limerick this year with 156 more sitting the Leaving Cert Applied.

Limerick Leader photographers, Michael Cowhey, Owen South and Adrian Butler were on hand on Wednesday to catch students as they emerged from exam centres at Ardscoil Mhuire in Bruff; St Clements and Laurel Hill in the city and Scoil Mhuire agus Ide in Newcastle West.
