AN investigation is underway after a teenager lost his life in a road accident in County Limerick.

The 17-year-old, who has been named as Kenneth Ryan from Pallasgreen, was travelling on a quad bike which collided with a tractor and hedge cutting machinery.

The accident occurred at approximately 1.45pm on Tuesday, outside the village of Oola near the turn-off for the Doon Road.

A team of forensic collision investigation experts carried out a detailed examination of the scene.

The road was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation.

Following news of Kenneth’s death, friends and former school mates of the teenager - Kenneth was a former student of Doon CBS - posted messages of condolences on his Facebook page.

“RIP you’ll be missed by everyone bud,” read one message while another read: “Words can’t explain how I feel right now - lost one of my best friends today. You were always there for all of us kid, sleep tight bro”.

Another message read: “RIP Kenneth, such a shock, hope you get the best bed in heaven”.

Kenneth, of Moymore, Pallasgreen, is deeply regretted by his heartbroken parents Tommy and Sara, brothers David, Andrew and Craig, and a wide circle of family and friends.

He will repose at Ryan’s funeral home in Pallasgreen this Thursday evening from 6pm, with removal to Nicker Church at 8pm. Funeral mass Friday at 11.30am with burial afterwards in St Columba’s Cemetery.
