FORGET about The X-Factor, Southill proved Limerick’s southside has talent of its own.

The Southill Area Centre recently held Southill’s Got Talent to showcase the talent and highlight potential future stars from the area.

The night was co-ordinated by the Club2gether Youth Committee who arranged for four judges to audition acts, with eight talents going through to the final. On the night, the sports hall in Southill Area Centre was packed to capacity, with over 200 people attending. There was a range of acts from comedy, dance, guitar to singing and rapping. Judge Jane Keating said she was “surprised by the level of confidence of some of the contestants” as they were just 12 years old and had the confidence of people much older.

In first place was the winner of €150, Brianna Wallace in the dance category, in second place were comedy trio Lauren Hehir, Charlene Williams and Chloe Crawford, and in third place was singer Emma O’Reilly. Jennifer O’Brien, Southill area centre manager said “the atmosphere was fantastic; it was great to get feedback about the buzz and sense of community spirit. Loads of families came to support the young people and we hope to keep the momentum going for 2013”.
