Searches resume for missing Pallaskenry woman

The search and rescue units were dispatched after the alarm was raised shortly after 6pm on Saturday evening last, when the victim failed to surface from the water near Roches Point in Cork

 

SEARCHES resumed in Shannon Estuary this Tuesday morning for a Pallaskenry woman who went missing at the weekend.

Search and rescue teams from Limerick, Cork, Kerry and Clare were joined by the Coast Guard in the operation which resumed this morning after standing down overnight.

Land-based teams have also been searching the coastline since first light.

Foynes Search and Rescue launched around 11am and members are carrying out searches on the south side of the estuary.

They have also been joined by the RNLI unit from Kilrush as well as search and rescue units from Kilkee, Mallow, Ballybunion and Limerick city.

It is understood that the Mallow Search and Rescue unit will use sonar scanning equipment to assist the search today.

The woman, who is aged in her early 20s, was last seen on Saturday afternoon.
