A FAMILY of five, including two children were forced to jump from the upstairs window of their home during a dramatic fire rescue this morning.

Ten units of Limerick Fire and Rescue Service were called to the house, in Shelbourne Terrace, close to the High Road in Thomondgate, at around 5.50am.

Three adults and two children jumped from a first floor window to escape the fire.

One passer-by, who was helping the rescue effort, suffered a broken leg.

The family are all in hospital, suffering from smoke inhalation and burns.

A technical examination of the scene was under way this afternoon.

For more pictures from the scene, and further information, see tomorrow’s Limerick Leader.
